Polyethylene terephthalate is thermoplastic from the group of polyesters and is mainly used in the production of bottles, packaging and non-wrinkle fibers that are characterized by low moisture and absorbency. Another use is in the production of technical extrusions, for example, injection-molded electric motor parts with good insulating ability and rigidity.

Advantages and disadvantages of PET
The advantage of PET is low cost and good recyclability, the disadvantage is that polyethylene terephthalate is not resistant to chemicals, especially solutions of strong alkalis or nitric acid. Other advantages of PET material include high toughness. It also has very good chemical resistance to acids and hydrolysis (up to +70 °C). PET plastic has low sliding friction and sliding wear.
